** Please be advised that most airlines have restrictions or embargoes on certain breeds. Snub-nosed breeds that are subject to breathing issues should be placed in a carrier one size larger than the normal recommended size. American Bulldogs, Pit Bulls and other related breeds may require a reinforced carrier for air shipping. One airline-approved brand to consider is Zinger.

Carrier Sizing Guide

Get an Air Shipping Quote

For domestic air travel, pets should have at least an inch of space over his/her head inside the crate, when standing. See our carrier sizing guide above.

Airline approved carriers are plastic “hardshell” kennels with a wire door. The two halves of the carrier should be fastened together with nuts and bolts (no clips). All sides of the top half should be ventilated.

Absorbent material is required as a liner at the bottom of the carrier. Puppy pads, towels, or even newspaper can be used. It is also helpful to place a T-shirt or small blanket with a scent of home to make your pet more comfortable.

Toys, bones and treats are prohibited inside the carrier

Two cups or crocks should be attached to the carrier door - one for food; one for water

Airlines will not accept pets that have been sedated prior to air shipping.

Tranquilizers may work well for pets that need to relieve stress in a home setting, such as in a thunderstorm or Fourth of July celebration, but pets should never be sedated for travel. Sedation may cause them to stop drinking water, and dehydration can kill! Please refrain from giving tranquilizers to your pets before or during travel, regardless of the mode of transportation.
